Any
film or presentation on the big screen or small screen should carry a
special warning, if it insults your intelligence. All kinds of
improbable stuff routinely appear on TV shows. Defying the law of
gravity. Noises in space: as I understand it, sound cannot travel in a
vacuum, which exists in space. Cheap, low-budget fake space aliens.
Human actors disguised as human-like robots. The list goes on. Is there
no end to this foolishness?TV shows insulting your intelligence. At some point, viewers need to stand up for common sense and reason over ratings and profits. Why not make it a point to refuse to watch stuff which is so silly, it should never have been displayed to the general public. In drastic cases, you might even be justified in complaining to the appropriate regulatory agency. For example, when creative license is abused so much that the material presented amounts to disinformation, spreading false news and so on. Blurring the line between fact and fiction has gotten so bad, I semi-seriously expect several low-IQ TV shows to start proclaiming that the Earth is flat. Of course, you know that our planet is round, right? I hope so. OK, not exactly round, slightly oval perhaps. Or close to egg-shaped. But certainly not flat!! All right, all silliness aside, it would be a mistake to underestimate the potency of misleading propaganda delivered to the masses through the media. As a result of such tripe, millions of viewers actually believe, mistakenly, that the 3rd millennium started on 01 January 2000. But, in fact, the year 2000 marked the very end of the 2nd millennium. The 3rd millennium commenced precisely on 01 January 2001. Even high-ranking, respected journalists got in on the act, circulating erroneous data on this subject. So who can you still believe, in this age of false news? You have a choice. Be a smart audience and avoid getting duped by all the nonsense displayed on TV and on the big screen. Watch a little less TV and fewer movies. And read some more newspapers. And why not write a few letters to the editors, as well. End of
