Stop requiring seatbelt use in parking lots.
I understand that the use of seatbelts is officially required in just about all situations where the motor vehicle is in motion. Presumably, this context would include parking lots of shopping centres. So here we have another example where the law fails to serve the public. Instead, the public serves the law. Personally, I do not perceive any safety benefit of buckling up when rolling along at a very, very low speed. But I do it anyway, because who knows if a ticketer might be watching. Nevertheless, I believe the law should be changed, to allow individual motorists more flexibility in deciding when to use seatbelts. But, hey, don’t stop buckling up as a result of any material you read on this page!!
However, there may be hope of defeating this draconian regulation. If all motorists contested tickets they received for this specific alleged offence, perhaps the law could be updated and improved so as to benefit, not harm, the public. Say no to thinly-disguised cash grabs. Pay, pay, pay!! For whatever lame pretext they can dream up. Such is the attitude of the public treasury towards you the citizen and your wallet (or purse), by all appearances. Therefore resist, using any legitimate means.

Those among us who choose not to buckle up in certain very low risk situations, do not deserve to be penalized for their choices, financially or otherwise. Drivers already have to contend with many sorts of high costs, including parking.
Disclaimer: This article is not intended to discourage or reduce the use of seatbelts. Rather, this article calls for the elimination of monetary and other penalties for those who have already made their decision or preference as to when to buckle up or not, in various scenarios.
